A quick idea that is fun to do from time to time here. 1) Highlight all of your desktop icons. 2) Hit Enter. 3) Sit back and watch the fun (make sure your speakers are on, just in case).
My typical desktop goes from completely iconless to about five columns of clutter. Around then, I clean it up again and start over. This is a fun thing to kill a bit of time when the clutter builds up good. That’s all for tonight.
One last thing, Ryan from The Office: “Hi. Hi. Hi.” – Instant classic.

I just woke up this fine Saturday morning. Right before I woke up, I was having quite the vivid dream. I dreamt that I had just bought a new house. The layout of the main floor was pretty similar to that of the house I grew up in, but the stairs to the second floor were in a different location. The second floor was entirely different, and very awesome. While I was walking around checking the place out (with some random old lady, old as in probably in the 70s, so weird), I was actually thinking about things to say when I blogged about my new house. I even thought of writing that I had a fresh feeling and I was going to link to the Eels again because they have a song called Fresh Feeling. So, here it is, a link to Fresh Feeling. It’s just a preview on Last.fm, but it’s the best I got.

Here’s one for the books.
Tonight I hopped on to the site of one of my favorite bands: Eels. They had posted a recent video from an appearance on the Carson Daly show. I watched one of the two videos, it was the song “I Like Birds.” As the camera is jumping back and forth (somewhat annoying, but it made this story possible), I noticed something.
Now for some quick background. I’ve seen Eels perform live four times I believe; three of those have been in Hollywood, CA. Two of those trips I noticed the same guy (if you’ve been to many concerts in the same general area, this is known to happen, seeing the same memorable person multiple times). Anyway, he’s one of the only people I’ve thought actually pulled off the face-pierced look. So naturally, that stuck out in my mind, and I recognized him the next time I saw him.
Back to the story. In the audience on the video I spot that same dude! He’s rocking out singing along with E. It’s a small quicktime file, so I can’t be 100% sure, but I’m pretty blasted sure it’s the dude.
This is the first time that I can remember recognizing some random person that I remember seeing in person while watching a video online. Pretty unique thing that was to stumble upon late this good eve.
So, this fellow I work with named Jeremy has a nice Yamaha R1 that he likes a little bit. Most days at work I hear about his plans to turbo it, and the troubles he runs into while trying to get it done. When he does turbo his R1, he wants to change the lettering to RT1 or something, so a passer by can tell it’s a turbo bike.
Yesterday morning he woke up to find that his bike had moved from his front porch to his driveway. After checking it out a bit more, he found that someone had tried to hot wire the bike to steal it. The only problem is that the steering was locked and they couldn’t have gone anywhere even if they did get it started.
Obviously, this upset him. Apparently he lives in a pretty trashy part of town (actually, the town of Middleton is pretty much all trailers and white trash and such), so he figures any of his Mexican or mulleted neighbors may have been the failed criminal. Anyway, I told him I’d blog about it for good measure.
He wanted me to use my super human INTERNET power to spread the word that if you happen to have a Yamaha R1, get an alarm system, lock it up, and keep it in your garage. Otherwise, you might wake up to porch full of nothing but empty beer cans and chairs!

So that new mattress I got a little over a month ago is working out just fine. In fact, it may be too comfortable. Today I laid down for a nap around 6:00 pm, figuring I’d do my standard 2 hour nap. Now, I did realize that naps taken on my bed tend to last longer than those on my couch. I felt pretty good about it though, figuring I’d be able to wake up to catch most of the first game on ESPN, and all of the second one while getting some things done.
Next thing I know, I’m wondering if it’s almost time to go to work. See, what I soon realized had happened was that my nap turned into a serious sleep session. When I came to, I checked the time to find that over five hours had passed! I woke up about 11:30 pm instead of my planned 8:00 pm.
Taking a nap this long gives me roughly the same feeling as sleeping in til noon or later. I feel that I’ve missed out on the day. Since I worked today from 7 to 4 like usual, I missed out on the time of day that I get my stuff done. Now I’m up when I’d usually be sleeping, and it’s just not the same. I find it much harder to get anything productive done in the early hours of the night than in late afternoon – evening hours.
So, now when I take naps, I’ll either stick to the couch or set my alarm so I don’t fall too deeply asleep. All that said, man I like my mattress!

The past two days here in St. George, Utah have been pretty bizarre for this area. It has snowed for about half of yesterday and today. I’ve lived here for over five years and have seen it snow for probably a total of three hours in that time.
Anyway, I just looked out my window to see something very strange. I saw two standard balloons falling from the sky pretty rapidly. I’d never really thought of it before, but that’s just something you don’t see. It’s not uncommon to see balloons float up and out of sight. I imagine those come down somewhere, but I’ve never seen it happen, maybe they go into space and to some far galaxy, who knows.
So yeah, two balloons, falling fast. They both hit the ground so I went outside and looked up and saw probably 20 more balloons that go thousands of feet into the sky, probably going on past what is visible, all of them are falling toward the ground at a good rate, with a little breeze from the south. I figure they must have all escaped from a car dealership when it was a little warmer outside, gotten up pretty high, then cooled down significantly and started their decent.
I stayed outside for a while longer, just watching the balloons fall and bounce off of buildings and streets, parking lots, just rolling around. It was kind of a surreal moment.
