As a divorcee, trust me, things are just as bad. It's like, once you've been married, everyone thinks you need to get married again (and somehow, there's something wrong if you don't want to do that). I've found, it's often these folks' insecurities that are driving such suggestions, but as a person who isn't dating and doesn't plan on it anytime soon, I understand exactly what you mean.
