Agassi Retires with Class

0

It’s been a day and a half now, and I feel I should finish off my Agassi at the 2006 US Open posts. He lost a tough match to Benjamin Becker, but gave it his all and went out with class and the admiration of everybody watching. He’s a true hero. Here is his short speech to the crowd after the match, priceless:

“The scoreboard said I lost today, but what the scoreboard doesn’t say is what it is I have found.

“And over the last 21 years, I have found loyalty. You have pulled for me on the court and also in life. I’ve found inspiration. You have willed me to succeed sometimes even in my lowest moments.

“And I’ve found generosity. You have given me your shoulders to stand on to reach for my dreams, dreams I could have never reached without you.

“Over the last 21 years, I have found you. And I will take you and the memory of you with me for the rest of my life.

“Thank you.”

Dream Blogging

I just woke up this fine Saturday morning. Right before I woke up, I was having quite the vivid dream. I dreamt that I had just bought a new house. The layout of the main floor was pretty similar to that of the house I grew up in, but the stairs to the second floor were in a different location. The second floor was entirely different, and very awesome. While I was walking around checking the place out (with some random old lady, old as in probably in the 70s, so weird), I was actually thinking about things to say when I blogged about my new house. I even thought of writing that I had a fresh feeling and I was going to link to the Eels again because they have a song called Fresh Feeling. So, here it is, a link to Fresh Feeling. It’s just a preview on Last.fm, but it’s the best I got.

Agassi’s Final US Open, Round Two

1

Boy oh boy, what a match! I thought his round one match with Pavel was a thriller. Round two put Agassi up against Marcos Baghdatis. I remember seeing Baghdatis do well early in his career, and at the number 8 seed, figured this may be Agassi’s last match.

The match started out surprisingly one sided. The play was good, but Baghdatis just kept missing a lot. Agassi got off to a quick 2 set to none lead. Marcos came back and took the third set. Agassi looked like he would move on once he got up 4 games to none in the fourth set. That’s when it got good.
