My Name On Google

0

So I went to Google just now and threw in my first and last name. I love the results. The #1 result happens to be a web page about the lake at which I grew up recreating. I learned to kneeboard and wakeboard there, and searching my name will take you there, it just doesn’t get much more awesome than that on the INTERNET.

See here: Google search for Billy Park – Result is Lake Billy Chinook.

Ultimate Fighter – Episode 6

0

I’m a regular viewer of SpikeTV’s Ultimate Fighter, now in its second season. Tonight’s show was the best yet. Jorge, who I picked to win the Welterweight class, finally fought. He fought the loose cannon of the show, Jason. Well, at first he was a loose cannon, since he showed up though, he’s really mellowed out.

Jason impressed me with his honesty before the fight. He admitted he was very nervous, excited, and had no idea how he was going to beat Jorge. The first round belonged to Jorge, but Jason wasn’t backing down. In the next two rounds, Jason did just what he needed to get the advantage. Jorge did all he could, but in the end, Jason put up the better fight. Very impressive.

Jason fights freestyle and has glimpses of last year’s Light Heavyweight champ, Forrest Griffin. Both fighters tonight have tons of heart, and I expect to see both of them in UFC fights when the show is over. Jorge will get surgery on his knee, then he can fight at full strength again.

Great show!

New Guy Ritchie Movie

0

The creator of two quality movies, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch has made another film titled Revolver. I first saw Ritchie’s work when I rented Snatch a few years back. I remember watching it all by myself initially and I couldn’t wait to tell people I knew about the movie. Great cinematography, music, wit, and acting. Shortly after that, I rented Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and enjoyed it – not at the same level, but I found it entertaining.

So I don’t know much of what Revolver is about, but it looks to have potential. Jason Statham will once again star in the movie. I like his look in this one, very grizzled.

The trailer can be seen here:

It hits theaters tomorrow, Sept 22, 2005. Living in St. George, Utah means that I’m pretty sure I won’t have the chance to see the movie unless I drive to Vegas. Movies with any sense of style generally skip the theaters here. I had to wait to see I Heart Huckabees on DVD, and I think it may be the same with this movie.

Ah, Wakeboarding at Dusk

0

This is my first wakeboarding post on here. I am obsessed with wakeboarding. Over the past two summers, I have had a hard time getting on schedule with people who have boats. 2003 was the last great year I had of riding.

Anyway, tonight we had an activity with the youth of my ward in church up at the lake. We loaded my friend Danny’s 210 Air Nautique with around a dozen people and rode for a couple hours until it was too dark to see. I took two quick runs to show how it is done (none of the kids had even tried wakeboarding before). It felt good to get back on the water. The last time I rode was around 5 weeks ago and I tweaked my knee a bit. I tried a crow mobe tonight and didn’t come too close, kinda hurt the knee, but I think it did no more damage, which is a great sign.

So there you have it, the first of many wakeboard related posts on BillyStyle.com.

NFL Primetime

0

Oh how I love this time of year! Week two is almost done with in the new NFL season. This year I am finally in a fantasy NFL league. I’ve played two seasons of fantasy NBA, and this is quite a bit different. You get one shot per week to pick the right players – quite a bit more hit and miss than with basketball. I think I like the change of style.

I lucked out and got Donovan McNabb, who had an amazing game today with over 300 yards and five touchdowns in just three quarters of play.

NFL Primetime on ESPN is my favorite sports show on television. A close second is Inside the NBA, which is on TNT. With so much great talent in the NFL, Primetime is a rush of great plays by incredible athletes. With Chris Berman and Tom Jackson, I find myself getting even more excited about the highlights than just watching them on SportsCenter. The Schwam’s “WHOOP!” and many other signature calls are very entertaining.

- On a sidenote, I am a devout Buffalo Bills fan. Their defense is incredible again this year, and the offense will get going as soon as JP Losman gets comfortable playing with the big boys.

This should be a great year in the NFL!

Odditorium or Warlords of Mars

Odditorium or Warlords of Mars
So today I found myself thinking “I wonder if The Dandy Warhols are working on a new album.” I checked out their site and hot diggity dog, I hit the jackpot! Their new album comes out tomorrow! Man, I couldn’t be more excited right now.

Upon making the discovery, I did drive down to the local music shop, Eden’s Music Exchange, to see if they were still open, but they were closed for the night. I’ll be picking up that album tomorrow for sure.

Be sure to check out their website, it has a full album preview with great classic video along with the songs. If you are unfamiliar with the band, they hail from my home state, Oregon. They’ve released four albums, this new one being their fifth. Their music is a strong soothing style of rock. Their latest album before this new one, Welcome to the Monkey House, is a great listen on a sunny morning when you’re in a good mood.

Hyperextended Big Toe

0

Kyle Boller\r\nSo in tonight’s Sunday night NFL game, Baltimore’s quarterback Kyle Boller just got a hyperextended big toe. Now, most people would say “Eh, that’s nothing,” but I know different.

Back in 2001, I hyperextended my right big toe while wakeboarding. The joint at the base of the toe moved up and down freely with a range of what seemed like a full inch. Over the next 2 weeks, that thing was super tender and swollen to its full capacity – you know, when your toes look like vienna sausages. Man, if I put any pressure on it, the toe would move up again and writhe with pain. I couldn’t even use the foot while driving, it was pretty bad.

So, if Mr. Boller’s toe is anything like that, I expect him out for a month or so. It will be interesting to see how sever it is. Oh, and the picture is one I found while searching Google for Boller, you may see that I like good random images if you follow this site at all.
